Besides Nevşehir (NAV), Kayseri Airport (ASR) is the other major airport serving Cappadocia and often has more flight options.
Many travelers land here, especially on early morning or late-night flights.
Kayseri city is about 70–80 km east of the Cappadocian towns (a one-hour drive to Göreme).
Here’s how to get from Kayseri to Cappadocia!
Shuttle Bus from Kayseri Airport to Cappadocia
Like Nevşehir, Kayseri Airport has shuttle services meeting many flights. These can be arranged through your Cappadocia hotel or booked online in advance.
A shared shuttle from Kayseri to Göreme costs roughly ₺380–₺680 ($10–$18) per person. The ride takes about 60–80 minutes depending on stops.
Shuttles usually wait for all passengers from your flight, then depart. They’ll drop you at your hotel’s doorstep, which is very handy for first-time visitors.
If you forget to reserve, you can often hop on by finding the shuttle staff in the arrivals hall – but booking ahead is safer for late-night arrivals.
By Private Transfer and Taxi Services
Taxis are available at Kayseri Airport, and private transfer companies operate there too.
The private one-way car to Cappadocia usually costs around ₺2200–₺2800 ($60–$75). The ride is about an hour to Göreme.
A private transfer (sedan or van) can also be booked in advance for a fixed price – useful if you are a group or have lots of luggage.
This is the quickest way out of the airport since you leave immediately and go direct with no stops.
If you arrive very late or simply want convenience, it’s worth it. Drivers may speak limited English, so having your destination written down helps.
By Bus from Kayseri City to Cappadocia
If, for some reason, you end up in Kayseri City (perhaps you took a train or want to explore Kayseri first), there are also frequent local buses from Kayseri’s bus station to Göreme and Ürgüp.
Companies like Kamil Koç and Metro Turizm have hourly departures.
The bus ride is about 1–1.5 hours and costs around ₺250– ₺350 ($6-$9).
This could be an option if you’re on a tight budget, but generally, the direct shuttles from the airport are more straightforward for travelers.
Practical Tips for Kayseri Airport
Kayseri Airport is larger than Nevşehir’s and has more services (restaurants, car rentals, etc.).
If you plan to rent a car, Kayseri often has a wider selection of agencies and vehicles.
Also, if you arrive early in the morning and can’t check into your Cappadocia hotel yet, you might consider a brief stop in Kayseri city for breakfast or to see the Seljuk-era castle and monuments before heading onward.
